Hold your horses IT'S ✨MJC-mail!✨
Do any of you have horses? You don't literally need to hold them if u do
Happy first Saturday of the month buttercups! I am writing this on Friday evening after Char strolled in half an hour ago and said “doesn’t your newsletter come out tomorrow?” and I said 🙃🙃🙃 *mild panic ensues*
But as always, within 5 minutes of scrolling through this month’s photos and collecting up moments to share with you, I’m feeling particularly grateful for the last few weeks and especially for the group of golden humans on here who care enough to wanna hear about them! So thank you for being here 💜
I hope you’re comfy, warm, and in the mood to update us on what’s going on with you in comments too (no pressure tho!). Let’s take a scroll through November, shall we?
The month started with me getting my boobs out in front of strangers.
Well, not total strangers! An artist called Lydia Reeves whose work I’ve admired on IG for long time - she makes incredible, colourful castings of bodies, and I’ve been wanting to get down to Brighton and let her plaster me up for a long time! I don’t have the final result yet, but I already know it’s gonna be beautiful (I’ll show you when it arrives 😘).
I’ve had some lovely meals with some lovely friends - YAY for food freedom and people to share it with! 💜
And some gorgeous work events as well…
I spoke at Stylist Live with the wonderful Alex Light - we chatted about body image, self-acceptance and expression through colour and style (I also wore these AMAZING cowboy boots for the first time which I am completely obsessed with (so much so that I made a whole video about them)).
I also got to do an event with bae this month! We co-hosted Winter Pride which was a lovely celebration of some of the queer talent in the UK. Char is honestly so good at everything she does (it’s kind of sickening) so I felt very safe and at home standing next to her for the night 🥰
And after that it was onto the Glamour Empowerment Summit! I brought a certain someone with me who very much enjoyed the free food and celeb spotting throughout the day 👑
Speaking of, we had a wonderful long weekend together catching up, chowing down and taking a trip to Southend to watch one of Gem’s 00s popstar faves (it’s Murder on the Dancefloor… 🪩). Home time always means plenty of puppy cuddles and sister pampering sessions 💅🏽
Meanwhile, back in London…
Since the actors/writers strikes in the US were resolved (yay!), movie interviews are back on the table!! I cannot tell you how much I love doing these - getting to watch the film early, research all about it and then chat to actors who I’ve loved for years is such a pinch-me-I’m-dreaming feeling. This month I’ve interviewed the writer of Wish, the cast of The Color Purple (Taraji P Henson! Danielle Brooks! i die), and Julia Roberts (!!) for her new Netflix thriller Leave the World Behind. I’ve enjoyed them all so much. And to top it off…
I wangled my way into the Wonka premiere dressed like a giant sweet and got my first go at red carpet interviewing! 🍭
The cast were all incredibly warm (a relief given it was fucking freezing outside and I’d lost feeling in my toes) and it was very fun having the challenge of being the first ever red carpet reporter for Threads. Are you guys on Threads? I’m actually really liking it!
In other, non-photographed news, I’ve been playing a considerable amount of Stardrew Valley on the playstation (self care at its finest!) aaaaaand (top secret news alert) I may have finally submitted a proposal for a second book… and it might be going really well so far 🥹🥹 I’ll (hopefully! 🙏🏽) have more to tell you about that next time…
Until then, how the heck are YOU?? What’s been going on? How’s your brain and how are you taking care of it? If you feel like it, tell us things!
It’s now 9pm and in the interest of self-care I’m going to leave the newsletter here and instead of the usual 3-parts I will pop back up in your inbox sometime this month with an ‘Is It Just Me Or…’ thought and your One Minute Reminder 💜 do you think that’s a better way of splitting the newsletter up anyway? Does having all 3 sections in one email feel like too much? Lmk if you have thoughts! (lmk gently i am sensitive to feedback 😅)
I’ll see you in the comments? If not, I hope you take the best possible care this month and know that you are worth taking care of and the world is better with you in it. ✨
Keep going, speak soon
M
💜
It’s ridiculous how much I love your newsletter.
In terms of the portion size, I do love the hearty feast that normally comes… on the other hand, I know it will be delicious however it arrives.
THE most important thing is that it works for YOU… your teaching re: self care and self compassion have to come from your self-kindest place, and that’s really all that matters.
I love you
OMG booby art, I love it! Also it seems the last MJC mail was just two weeks ago, but reading about all the amazing things you did last month, that wouldn’t fit into two weeks.
I think splitting up the newsletter is a good idea. Then we get MJC twice a month :D
It was a good month for me too. I’ve been feeling more myself since October after a longer mental and physical crisis period. I went on my first date in two years and it feels good to be putting myself out there again. 💕
