Hello my beautiful lil butter crumpets! 💖
It feels like forever since I’ve written to you! I hope wherever you’re opening this from you’re comfortable, calm & have good things happening around you 🌈
Summer has officially left the building over here in London - I am very happy for all of you autumn loving babies and also personally devastated 😅 this may finally be the year I invest in a S.A.D lamp…
But August was mostly wonderful! Work things were quite quiet which left lots of room for family time and also WRITING. I think I might have nearly finished the first draft of my next book?! 😮 which is scary to tell people but hey, let’s embrace being proud of ourselves!
Let me catch you up (in photos) with what’s been happening over here, and then maybe you can give us your August update in the comments? I would love that.
First things first, I got another tattoo…
A floral armband that wraps completely round 🪷 from the incredibly talented artist Maiko Only. She took 6 hours and hurt a lot but I am so happy with her! I feel like she’s made me see my body as art even moreso than before. What do you think?
I’ve clocked in some quality time as Auntie Megan lately!
We took Char’s nieces to an inflatable theme park, to lunch and then it was back to the garden to play fairies, colouring & choreograph popstar dance routines! Probably my favourite day all month - my inner child was thriving and my whole body ached the next day 😅
Then it was back to London to be a grown up but also not really, because it was time to let my inner Swiftie out…
I’ve been a massive Taylor fan ever since Fearless - I never really shouted about it bc her political affiliations were questionable for a long time 😅 but now I’m out & proud and I sang my lungs out at the Era’s tour!! (for any Swifties in the house - Red is my favourite era and the 10-minute version of All Too Well was PHENOMENAL).
August is also the month of…
UK Black Pride! The world’s biggest Pride celebration centering black and brown queer people 💃🏽 Char works for UKBP and manages a whole section of the event, so I went and tried to be helpful on the community stage - introducing lots of meaningful panels and speakers and performers.
Black Pride is always a gorgeous thing to witness but it felt even more important after the racist riots that had been happening in the UK a couple of weeks prior. It was beautiful to see everyone come together and celebrate each other, despite all that senseless hate.
We hopped back down to Essex to clock in some time with the Queen!
Gem has been in great spirits lately - she’s started having personal training sessions once a week to work on her strength and mobility and she loves it! I think she feels even more like a celebrity, now that she has a trainer 🤣
You might not know this but in recent years I’ve gotten very into reality dating tv - it started as a I’m not well so I might as well lie on the sofa and watch this nonsense… and now it’s just fully my life. Char & I sit and have our running commentary on every break-up, meltdown, cheating scandal & reunion episode. We love MAFS (Australia, ideally), but we’re also a fan of…
Love is Blind 😳 and the UK version came out recently so OF COURSE I said yes when Michelle asked if I wanted to be her plus 1 to a special screening of the finale! Whew that show is an emotional rollercoaster. And a real testament to how easy it is to fall in love with the idea of someone 😅 has anyone else been watching?? We’re Team Demi, right??
And I think the only thing left to show you is where I’ve been writing from!
I used the last of the summer sun to sit under some trees and write about bodies, break-ups, sexuality & self-love. Writing feels like the ultimate challenge of pushing through the self-doubting voice that says I have nothing good to say - I do have worthwhile things to share, and I’m gonna share them, thank you very much. Anyway, watch this space for more updates on that, I will of course share with you when I have news! 🤗
That’s it from me! Thank you for being here and being you and making the internet a brighter place, at least in this lil corner 🌞
Feel free to update us on what’s been happening for you! The good, the not-so-good or the in-between.
You are loved and valued and I’ll speak to you soon!

Obsessed with your new tattoo and in love with the fact that you’re a fellow Swiftie! My August was… challenging. Almost got fired, decided to resign instead, and it’s been a whole rollercoaster of emotions since. Don’t know what I’m doing or where I’m going from here, and I’m about to turn 30 next month. Feeling kinda lost but trying to treat myself with grace. It’s hard right now, but I know it will get better 🤍
Congratulations on the book :-) I'm also nearing the end of the latest draft of my novel...feels surreal and like a very quiet personal victory but also it is absolutely something to celebrate!
