Welcome to Read, Shake, Appreciate! This is your fortnightly round-up of words that made me feel inspired, songs that made me shake my ass, and people who I think deserve some spotlight.
This week I wrote a little baby poem that sprang into my brain when the sun started shining and I told myself I hadn’t done enough work to go out and enjoy it yet. I went out. And then I wrote this (I hope it reminds u that u deserve the light as well ☀️)
the Sun is for you,
too
even if
even if
even if
She knows
all You are
and She
chooses
Your skin
to tickle
with tomorrows
accept Her
touch
She makes
no mistakes
This week I’m shaking to:
We Are The Light by Infinity Song
I cannot get enough of the joyful affirmations and uplifting vibes in this one! Added straight to the Feel Good playlist (which you can find here)
This week I’m appreciating:
A writer and teacher whose words of encouragement and wisdom have blessed my timeline for years now. Alex writes about healing in a way that can only be done by people who are actually *doing* it, and letting their truth pour out. A recent piece that immediately went into my saves:
I know you've been through a lot. I know you've been hurt and let down.
I know it feels like you can't trust anyone some days because your heart is too fragile to handle any more disappointment.
As you heal, I hope you experience safety and ease in your relationships. I hope you're shown that everyone won't hurt you.
There are still good people in the world that you haven't met yet.
There are people that will love you how you're supposed to be loved.
And see you how you've been longing to be seen. All is not lost, even when it's hard to believe.
That’s all for this weekend my loves, thank you for sharing this space with me and holding your heart open to let the light in, I am so grateful you are you. 💜
Thank you for all that you do, Megan. I read this from my hospital bed after surgery today and it was exactly what I needed in that exact moment♥️☀️
I always enjoy reading your poetry, Megan. This made me smile. And the lyrics in that song! They were so unique and uplifting.
