This newsletter is officially 1 years-old! HBD newsletter!! 💃🏽
I started writing in this space at a time when I didn’t know if I could carry on with the social media thing. I was so tired of algorithm game playing, lack of nuance and feeling like my every move was being watched by people just waiting to cancel me for nothing.
I needed room to breathe (and write) in a place that felt safer, more suited to bigger conversations. Somewhere that would allow me be a full human!
And you all, reading this, gave me that. I am SO grateful for the ways you’ve supported my thoughts here – every subscribe (free or paid), every comment, every share, every “hey your newsletter really hit home this week” DM. Thank you for allowing me to grow. You’re a fucking beautiful bunch of humans.
So… now what?
It’s been a year of challenging myself to show up every week, twice a week, so first things first: A BREAK. I’m gonna take a little minute, sit back and think about where I’d like this space to go next – and of course I would love your input on that.
Which parts of this newsletter do you enjoy the most? What makes you more likely to click “open” when it pops up in your inbox? What could you deal with getting less of?
Any and all opinions are welcome and appreciated!
Real talk: the amount of content I create here does take a fair amount of time/energy right now, and unfortunately, I don’t have enough paid subscribers to viably keep putting out this much when that energy could be used on other projects that help me pay my rent (boo, capitalism). So I’ma gonna need to scale it back a bit.
MASSIVE thank you to those of you who’ve chosen to be paid subscribers here! There aren’t that many people who believe in supporting creators monetarily for that they put into the world and it really does mean a lot that you do. My forever MVPs. ✨

I love everything you do here, Megan, and I definitely understand the need to cut back! My favorite posts are your “is it just me or” and other longer ones where you share about your life and what’s on your mind. It makes me not feel so alone. I hope that someday I’ll have enough money to live on properly myself, and can do more to support creators like yourself that I really value ❤️ I hope you have a good break that brings more clarity for you.
I really enjoy the stories of your personal life that you choose to share with us. And veering onto your instagram page, I really appreciate the content of you being joyful - it's much needed in these times and really refreshing. I follow people that share a lot of activist work and sometimes the feed can just get very heavy. I really like being able to turn to your content for some grounding.
