I also appreciate the way you framed the reminder to not place blame or negate the experience by labeling these people in our past as “bad.” Too often, I look back on a relationship where I was mistreated and if I’m not blaming myself, I blame them, and that doesn’t help at all in my healing. I still get my hopes up that my mom will learn or listen to me when I tell her what I need, but I am consistently disappointed and hurt. I guess her hands are already full.
So great to recognise which hands we need, and also the capacity of our own hands.
Ps I’m just remembering how babies (often around 6 months old) are fascinated by their hands, will gaze at them like they’ve just noticed them, beautiful
